nbm Construction Cost Consultants is a private consultancy business providing the services of Quantity Surveying, Employer's Agent, Building Surveying and CDM Advisory Services.
The job on offer is a "Day release" apprenticeship, whereby you will be employed by the business and attend Glasgow Caledonia University and the Graduate Apprenticeship Construction and Built Environment (Quantity Surveying) Course with a view to obtaining an Honours Degree. The Course has a four year duration over which time you will be attending university during term time on the basis of a day per week and when not in attendance at university you will be working in the office gaining hands on experience which is tailored to the University course to support you through your qualification. The job itself will develop over the 4 year duration, in the 1st year you will be working on understanding the office environment and how a professional chartered quantity surveying business operates. You will support the team on office administration tasks. As your foundation is formed you will be provided with quantity surveying tasks to carry out in support of the senior members of staff and over the 4 year period of your apprenticeship your involvement in the works will increase with the ultimate goal by the end year 4 of you being a self sufficient Quantity Surveyor in your own right. Beyond obtaining your Honours degree the business will support employees in obtaining their Chartered qualification (MRICS) by way of our in-house designated trainer.

A minimum of four Highers. With at least two Highers at grade B or higher. Various grade combinations from Highers and Advanced Highers will be considered. Nat 5 English and Mathematics are essential at; Higher English and Mathematics are preferred. For applicants with prior work experience and professional qualifications there is a possibility to be considered through the University's flexible entry system through Recognition of Prior Learning(RPL). This process allows prospective graduate apprentices to claim credit(s) against previously assessed and certificated learning, including informal learning, to be considered and recognised for academic purposes and credit within their programme. Also someone with a HNC in QS at Grade B or higher can slot in at Year 2 and a HND into Year 3 of the GA. Foundation Apprenticeships. We accept selected Foundation Apprenticeships, in combination with SQA Highers, for entry to our degree programmes. Your Foundation Apprenticeship will take the place of one SQA Higher qualification for our standard entry requirements and will be treated as equivalent to a B grade at Higher.
Being in possession of a clean driving license is preferred but those working towards obtaining your driving licence will be considered.
