The PEPASS Team (Physical Education, Physical Activity & School Sport) are located within Education Services for Glasgow City Council. The team is made up of Physical Education Lead Officers, Active Schools Coordinators, a Modern Apprentice Lead Officer, a Dance and Activities Development Officer, a School Leadership Officer, the Glasgow Primary Swim Team and an administrative support team. We are committed to contributing to Glasgow's key priorities of: 2014 Legacy Sport Glasgow Improvement Challenge Physical Education and School Sport Participation Coach Education and Leadership Club Coaching and Volunteering Events and Competition To do this the team develop, manage and support a number of sport and activity opportunities, competitions, programmes and events, and provide resources and information and support to schools and their staff across the city to encourage Primary and Secondary age pupils to get involved and be more physically active, more often. Glasgow's PEPASS team are one of the largest and busiest activity teams in the country. With a massive range and diversity of activity and sport facilities on our doorstep the team are involved with every imaginable sport and activity. DUE TO FUNDING CRITERIA, THIS VACANCY IS AVAILABLE TO THE FOLLOWING: 16-19 YEAR OLDS 20-29 YEAR OLDS WITH A DISABILITY 20-29 YEAR OLDS WHO ARE CARE EXPERIENCED As a PEPASS Apprentice you will build the skills needed to be a Sports and Activities Coach. You will join the Active Schools team and will be assigned a mentor as for the duration of your apprenticeship. As an Apprentice, you will support physical activity and sport opportunities in a School Learning Community. You will be working with a range of pupils from a variety of backgrounds including Primary, Secondary and Additional Support for Learning. Throughout the Apprenticeship you will receive training and will complete a number of coaching and delivery qualifications. You will be supported and encouraged as a coach to develop the required skills and abilities to deliver high quality activity sessions. There will be opportunities to work with other staff and colleagues across the city, so candidates should be prepared to travel when necessary to schools, clubs, events and competitions as required. 1. Represent the PEPASS Team in a professional manner at all times. 2. Support Active Schools Team in developing, delivering and supporting sport and activity opportunities to Primary, Secondary and ASL pupils. 3. Complete project, assessment and module work related to the Apprenticeship in a timely manner. 4. Support the PEPASS Team at competitions and events. 5. Support a variety of working groups with project work related to making more pupils, more active, more often 6. Complete a number of virtual and online training programmes within the required timescales.
It would be an advantage if you had been involved in one of our Leadership Programmes (Sports Leadership or Dance Leadership)
Demonstrate an enthusiasm for Sport
Applicants require National 4 Maths and English.
To be eligible to apply you must: 1. Be available to participate in the both stages of the recruitment process. 2.. Be available to complete paid employment of 35 hours a week for two years between September 2021– August 2023. The full interview process is conducted over two stages. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend a 2 hour session on either 6th, 7th or 8th July. Applicants who are successful at this stage, will then be invited to attend a group interview process on the 12th, 13th and 14th July. Candidates must be available for all three dates.
