DUE TO FUNDING CRITERIA, THIS VACANCY IS AVAILABLE TO THE FOLLOWING: 16-19 YEAR OLDS 20-29 YEAR OLDS WITH A DISABILITY 20-29 YEAR OLDS WHO ARE CARE EXPERIENCED Role of the Digital and Administration Modern Apprentice As you work towards achieving your SVQ Business and Administration Level 2, you will be trained to operate digital administrative packages. You will learn clerical tasks which are undertaken in school offices and in Education Services. The main administrative digital programmes in schools are Click&Go, Parents Portal, Parent Pay and Groupcall. You will learn to support colleagues in your team and the school office staff across the city. You will be given a variety of experiences, mainly working across 2 teams during your placement in John Street. You will also be placed in a school office for a period during your 2-year Modern Apprenticeship. This is to provide you with an exciting fully rounded experience. This will also help you to obtain comprehensive knowledge of Education Services and schools, along with growing your confidence in the workplace. Tasks will include; • Sending and receiving emails • Managing digital mailboxes • Making and receiving telephone calls • Reception duties • Attending meetings and sometimes taking minutes • Visiting schools to resolve issues for clerical staff in relation to the above digital programmes (you will be accompanied by a member of your team) • Undertaking tasks to support the various city-wide specialisms including Administration, Digital, Property, Transport, Enrolments, Procurement and Finance • Undertaking tasks to support the Quality Improvement Officers You will be supported by colleagues in the Administration and Business Support Team with gaining on the job experience and training. You will also be provided with a named mentor in the team who will manage your development, leave requests, absences and professional coaching review.
Work effectively as part of a team in Education Services supporting school clerical staff. Ability to talk to people in a polite and articulate way. Able to follow instructions. Excellent written communication skills. To have an enthusiastic and positive attitude to work. To provide digital and administration support to a high standard. The ability to prioritise and co-ordinate digital and administration tasks efficiently. Ensure deadlines are met. Work towards achievement of a Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) at Level 2.
No experience necessary, however you should have a willingness to learn and develop. Competent keyboard skills. Experience in using Microsoft packages including Word, Outlook and Excel
Good attention to detail, Provide excellent and friendly customer service. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
A good general education. Preferable passes or working towards National Level 4 qualifications, one of which should be English.
