my story

Clyde Knitwear Limited (CKL) is a local family owned business, established over four decades ago in the busy Tradeston area of Glasgow. We are a major UK clothing manufacturer, importer and distributor to the trade industry – supplying a vast range of clothing, equipment and accessories to companies all over the UK and Europe. Our diverse product range includes schoolwear, sportswear, Hi-Viz, outerwear and dancewear, alongside this we also offer personalised bespoke print and embroidery services.

We have used the Glasgow Guarantee for a number of years to help us recruit several apprentices. We are a strong believer in youth and local employment schemes and have really benefitted from all that the Glasgow Guarantee has offered us – it has really suited us.

Our experience has shown us that the Glasgow Guarantee makes a real difference to both the apprentice and the employer alike. The scheme has rewarded us with enthusiastic team members who from day one are keen to learn and work really hard whilst at the same time helping us to thrive and continue to deliver great customer service, which we pride ourselves on. 

All our apprentices have gone on to do really well too – gaining qualifications whilst earning a wage. As a family business we like to keep up with developing trends in the industry, to meet the needs of the market place, and their enthusiasm and knowledge of new technologies has certainly helped us in key areas.
