Wage £30,000-35,000 depending on experience. As the facilities handyman you will be responsible for keeping the factory in a good condition and improving the working environment. This will involve light fabrications so mig and tig welding would be an advantage. Also involving carpentry and joinery such as fitting doors, basic plumbing and basic electrical repairs. When we have a new project such as erecting racking or developing a new work space you will take a lead on this and working alongside colleagues you will work to develop the new workspace. The successful candidate needs to have the skills and experience to work on their own for most of the time, to solve problems as they arise. This is because you will not be in a team (there is no other dedicated facilities person in the company) though you will get direction from the companies managing director and may get assistance from ~30 colleagues from time to time. A recognised qualification or experience in the building trade would be an advantage but we welcome all candidates. Although we are looking for an all round handyman, we are looking for someone experienced and responsible who will do an excellent job at the tasks allocated to them and who will work autonomously, hence we are willing to offer a substantial wage to a candidate with the right skills.
