Job Description and Key Responsibilities

As Facilities Assistant you will ensure all areas of the premises are presentable, well maintained and secure to ensure a functional and safe working environment for staff, contractors and visitors. Your key responsibilities will include: • Performance of preventative maintenance tasks • Performance of reactive maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, unclogging drains and minor repairs • Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the Operations Managers and H&S Coordinator where appropriate • Waste management tasks, adhering to materials segregation for recycling and ensuring high housekeeping and environmental standards • Conduct scheduled and ad hoc cleaning including response to spillages etc. • Carry out cleaning of equipment, machinery and vehicles when required • Carry out heavy cleansing tasks and special projects • Assist with inventory management of cleaning and maintenance supplies • Ensure all cleaning and maintenance equipment, such as floor cleaners, is properly maintained and stored • Litter picking, sweeping and tidying of indoor and outdoor areas • Basic gardening tasks e.g. weeding, spraying and planting • Refill supplies in bathrooms, break rooms, kitchen and reception • Key holder, responsible for conducting end of day security checks • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines • Any other duties commensurate with the nature of the role

Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills

Essential: • Integrity and ability to work independently • Previous work experience as a facilities assistant, janitor, cleaner, or similar role • Ability to handle heavy equipment and machinery • Ability to walk, bend, push, pull and lift repetitively during working hours • Excellent attention to detail and high standards of cleaning and general housekeeping • Self-motivated and resilient, with a strong work ethic Desirable: • Previous experience in a similar role • Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies • Full driving license

Education, Qualifications and Training

Qualifications or training related to Manual Handling, Health and Safety, General Maintenance and Cleaning would be beneficial but not essential.
