Job Description and Key Responsibilities

DUE TO FUNDING CRITERIA, THIS VACANCY IS AVAILABLE TO THE FOLLOWING: 16-19 YEAR OLDS 20-29 YEAR OLDS WITH A DISABILITY 20-29 YEAR OLDS WHO ARE CARE EXPERIENCED 4 year apprenticeship as a Support Service School Technician (Technical), undertaking a wide range of duties within Technical, Science, and AV/ICT within a school science department. You will be studying towards an HNC in Mechanical Engineering at Glasgow Clyde College, which is delivered on block release at East Kilbride & District Engineering Group Training Association Ltd (EKGTA). Provision of technical support required to support teaching and learning, including the safe use and maintenance of fixed machinery and equipment, safe storage and servicing of general school equipment and chemicals with due regard to Health & Safety procedures.

Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills

A keen interest in engineering, technical subjects, science and ICT/AV related work and processes would be helpful. You will be proactive and demonstrate problem solving skills and a practical attitude towards work. Can demonstrate an ability to work as part of a specialist team of school based technicians and can demonstrate a high level of communication skills. Training is provided in-house and at college

Education, Qualifications and Training

1 Higher in either Maths or Physics with a minimum pass grade ‘C’ or any nationally recognised equivalent qualification e.g. NC Mechanical Engineering.
