Education Services – The Technician Support Service (TSS) supports teaching and learning in all sectors of Education Services within Glasgow City Council. TSS provide a wide range of advisory, technician support and other specialist services to all educational establishments. DUE TO FUNDING CRITERIA, THIS VACANCY IS AVAILABLE TO THE FOLLOWING: 16-19 YEAR OLDS 20-29 YEAR OLDS WITH A DISABILITY 20-29 YEAR OLDS WHO ARE CARE EXPERIENCED 4 year apprenticeship as a Support Service Technician (Digital Technology), undertaking a wide range of duties to support Digital Learning, Technical and Science within Glasgow Schools. Studying towards an HNC in Electronic Engineering at Glasgow Clyde College, Cardonald Campus. SVQ level 2 completed by part time attendance at Glasgow Clyde College, Anniesland Campus and SVQ level 3 completed within the workplace, which will include a split between schools and central service work areas. A keen interest in digital technology, electronics or computing/software applications would be beneficial. In addition, interest in technical and/or science subjects and other related work and processes would be helpful to candidates. You will require to be proactive and demonstrate problem solving skills and a practical attitude towards work. You should be able to demonstrate an ability to work as part of a specialist team of school based technicians. Able to demonstrate a high level of communication skills. Training is provided within in-house environment and at college.
Course requirements are 1 Higher from English, Maths, Physics or Technical Subject with a minimum pass grade ‘C’ or any nationally recognised equivalent qualification or NC Engineering or equivalent. We will consider your application if you have relevant experience but no formal qualification.
Some elements of the Science and Technical content of a School Support Service Technician's duties will also be covered via in-house training during the 4-year apprenticeship. Additional in-house training will be provided via the Technician Support Service - Technician Progression Scheme and the Scottish Schools Educational Research Centre Technician CPD Training Scheme courses. Completion of Technician Passport during the 4-year apprenticeship. Completion of SVQ Framework Year 1 - 2: Performing Engineering Operations / Year 3 - 4 Engineering Maintenance
