Strathclyde Pension Fund Office (SPFO) administers the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) in the West of Scotland and has more than 150 participating employers. • SPFO has over 283,000 members which includes people paying into the scheme and retired members receiving a pension • SPF is the second largest of the UK LGPS Funds • The Fund has a current value of £27.9 billion
Due to funding criteria these vacancies are available to: - 16-19 year olds - 20-29 year olds with a disability - 20-29 year olds who are care experienced We are looking to recruit Business Administration Modern Apprentices to help deliver clerical and administrative support within SPFO and to provide a high standard of customer service. General administrative support includes: • Processing incoming and outgoing mail • Dealing with enquiries from members and employers via telephone, letter and email • Promoting our digital services including website and member online portal Providing support in all areas of pension administration including: • Processing a range of benefit and payroll calculations via the pension administration system • Use of task management and document imaging systems • Data maintenance of member records Communicating with all stakeholders who are: • Members • Employers • External organisations
Successful candidates will provide support in all areas of the business that includes: • Operating a contact centre and promoting digital services • Working in partnership with employers to ensure accuracy of our member database • Maintaining the pension system to comply with LGPS regulations • Processing a range of pension calculations • Processing a variety of financial transactions and paying monthly pensions • Working within required timescales Candidates must show commitment to achieving an SVQ level 2 in Business Administration. Throughout the programme candidates will receive training, support and on the job experience. There could be opportunity to progress to an SCQF level 6 in Digital Applications upon completion of the SVQ Level 2
• Basic IT Skills • knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word/Excel)
Candidates are required to demonstrate: • Good verbal and written communications skills • Be able to work as part of a team • Adapt to learning new skills • Reliable, hardworking and shows an enthusiastic positive manner • Produce work to a high standard
• English and Maths at National 4 or above are desirable • Administration/Computing at National 4 or above would be advantageous
• Candidates selected for an interview will be required to complete a short numeracy test before the interview
