Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability is a council service, which is an amalgamation of Parks, Cleansing, Roads, Parking, Community Safety Glasgow and Development and Regeneration Services which delivers a service to the citizens of Glasgow. It has responsibility for maintaining parks, open spaces, roads and lighting as well as ensuring a clean environment within the city. It is also responsible for Transport, Fleet Maintenance and Planning/Building control.
The successful applicant will be working in an office based environment. This will involve assisting Traffic Technicians in the day to day implementation of roads lighting and traffic maintenance and improvement works across the city. While working within a team you will learn about street lighting design, road accident investigation, roads design, maintenance, new developments and develop computer skills to record information. You may also be asked to gather data and carry out footpath, road and lighting surveys which will involve working on site or at our Roads Depot to assist with monitoring works contractors as required. You will learn about complaint management.
You will assist Roads Maintenance Team with gathering information and statistics, present reports and provide information on spreadsheets to ensure that Roads Lighting assets are maintained and inspected at the appropriate intervals and that works are carried out in line with Council policies and H&S Standards.
Any experience working with computers and or working within science or technical subjects
Good computer skills Good communication and customer service skills Works well as a member of a team Enjoys a challenge Driving: While a full licence is not essential in year one, it is necessary to obtain a licence in order to complete the training.
2 Highers with at least one being Engish/Maths/Science (grade C). National 5 in Maths/English (grade B) and Science subjects is desirable.
