Education Services – The Technician Support Service (TSS) supports teaching and learning in all sectors of Education Services within Glasgow City Council. TSS provide a wide range of advisory, technician support and other specialist services to all educational establishments. For full details please visit the www.tssglasgow.org The service is provided by professional technicians who have a wide range of specialised skills, expertise and experience in the education sector including Personnel and staff training and development role within Education Services. As well as Technician Service Management and Health & Safety Related Services to the department.
None required - training is provided in-house and at college
A keen interest in engineering, technical subjects, science and ICT/AV related work and processes would be helpful. You will be proactive and demonstrate problem solving skills and a practical attitude towards work. Can demonstrate an ability to work as part of a specialist team of school based technicians and can demonstrate a high level of communication skills.
1 Higher in either Maths or Physics with a minimum pass grade ‘C’ or any nationally recognised equivalent qualification e.g. NC Mechanical Engineering.
Some elements of the Science, ICT and Audio Visual content of a School Support Service Technicians duties will also be covered via in-house training during the 4 year apprenticeship. Additional in-house training will be provided via the Technician Support Service - Technician Progression Scheme and the Scottish Schools Educational Research Centre Technician CPD Training Scheme courses. Completion of Technician Passport during the 4 year apprenticeship.
