The succesful applicant will assist qualified Electricians in the day to day maintenance outdoors maintaining Glasgow’s street lighting assets and will be based at Gartcraig Roads Depot. Identifying hazards and assessing risks to planned work, carrying out testing and inspections, replacing lamps and carrying out checks and general maintenance as required. Working at height will be an essential requirement throughout the period of training. Use of a wide range of power tools and other equipment will also be required.
Hours: 37 hrs per week pro rata 7.30am-6.30pm Mon/Thurs and Mon/Wed alternative weeks (10.5 hour shifts) unless attending college on block release 9am-4pm
Your Modern Apprenticeship consists of a 3 year programme attending a further education college, where you will complete your Electrical Installation training qualification. This will be followed by FICA which will lead to the issue of an ECS Grade Card.
Driving: While a full licence is not essential in year one, it is necessary to obtain a licence in order to complete the training.
Technical: You will need to be able to read and understand technical drawings and diagnose faults.
Good communication skills and pleasant manner when dealing with members of the public and fellow workers is required.
Ability to work at height is an essential requirement.

Studying technical subjects from school or college will assist with proving ability to grasp the tasks.
